Ideal for observing lemurs and many other animals, Andasibe rainforest is very specific with its evergreen tropical forests along the escarpments. Under this immense forested canopy, a countless number of species had found an ideal habitat.

Regarding The private Reserve of Berenty, this small private reserve is arguably one of the island’s better-known, and one of the last gallery forests to be found in Madagascar. Principally known for being one of the best spots to view confident and habituated ringtail and Verreaux sifaka lemurs at closer range, the reserve was established 70 years ago by the de Heaulme family to protect the 250 hectares of spiny and dry tamaring gallery forest that sit along the banks of the Mandrare River.

Day 1 Arrival in Antananarivo

Arrival at the international airport of Antananarivo.

After immigration and customs formalities, meet and greet with your English-speaking driver/guide. Proceed to money exchange then transfer to the hotel which is situated in the city centre.

Day 2 Antananarivo – Andasibe

After breakfast, drive to the eastern part of Madagascar, to reach Andasibe or Perinet. After about 4 hours drive on the national road with stop on the way, arrive at destination by lunch time. Afternoon visit of the private park of Vakona where you will start the wildlife expeditions: spot lemurs, birds, crocodiles etc…followed by an evening walk to spot night active wildlife.

Day 3 Andasibe – Expeditions into Mantadia National Park

After breakfast, begin a day expedition to the Mantadia side of the national park with pic nic lunch.

Here you will have the chance to see species such as the Diademed Sifaka, Eastern Grey Bamboo Lemur and the Black and White Ruffed Lemur. Mantadia national park is also a home to some of the ground welling birds such as the Pitta-like Ground Roller, Short Legged Ground Roller, Blue Coua, Paradise Fly Catcher and some Asities.

Then walk to a nearby natural pool, spotting more animals along the way. After this day expedition, you will drive back to the hotel for a short break then go on for another evening walk. You may see animals such as the Brookesia; Leaf tailed Gecko and Parson’s Chameleon during this visit.

Day 4 Andasibe – Expedition into Analamazaotra National Park – Antananarivo

This morning after breakfast, enjoy another expedition in the forest in the Analamazaotra National Park. This Park is the home of the Indri, the largest living lemur, famous for its haunting call. Other species of lemur also share the forest with the Indri such as the Common Brown Lemur, Diademed Sifaka and the Eastern Wolly Lemur.

After visit, have lunch and drive back to Antananarivo

Day 5 Antananarivo – Fort Dauphin

Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to the airport and fly to Fort Dauphin in the south east of Madagascar. At arrival, go for a wildlife expedition in the reserve of Nahampoana, a very interesting botanical garden situated at 7km from the town, composed by a typical vegetation of the east and the south which exists only around the area of Fort Dauphin. After the visit, transfer to the hotel.

Day 6 Fort Dauphin - Berenty

After breakfast, drive to the Berenty private reserve. Upon arrival, Check in to your lodge then go for an evening walk to spot night active wildlife.

Day 7 and Day 8 Berenty

You will have the opportunity to explore the private reserve. Berenty is a small private reserve set in the semi arid spiny forest. The reserve is home to six species of lemurs and the south’s largest colony of Madagascar fruit bats. Morning walk in the reservet to spot lemurs, bird, etc.. with a visit at the museum which allow you to learn about the life of the local tribe, the Antandroy. Then visit the gallery forest of Berenty which contains a collection of the extraordinary flora of the spiny forest, followed by an evening walk to spot night active wildlife.

Day 9 Berenty – Fort Dauphin

Leave Berenty and drive back to Fort Dauphin

Day 10 Fort Dauphin - Antananarivo

Following your domestic flight to Antananarivo, enjoy your morning at leisure and then transfer to the airport to flight back to the capital.

Today following your flight schedule, transfer to the airport to take flight back home.
